Making Your Own Website

So you chose Nativespace, Good for you, it’s a brilliant UK based hosting company and very easy to use.

You will need a credit card to continue.

Go to Nativespace and click on Hosting.

 

You need to choose either the Premier or Professional account, the Pro account allows you to build upto 5 websites on the same account.

 

Click on the Order Button

Make sure the tick box for ‘I want nativespace to register anew domain for me’ is ticked, the need to enter the Domain Name that you require.

 

You will be informed if it is or is not available, click Continue if your chosen name is available or try for another.

 

 You can choose wether to pay monthly or anually,  it is a 12 month contract that you are entering into. Click Update Cart when you have chosen.

 

You now have to chose if the domain name belongs to you or your company and Give a Registrants Name.  I do recommend you tick the Whois Op-Out box, this prevents your personal info from ebing published on the web (Name, Address, & Phone Number).

 

Next you need to enter your details and then you will be taken to a Payment page. 

 

 

Upon completion 

You will receive and email with all of you details on it, Please do not lose this email, it is important.

You have now ordered your Hosting Account and Domain Name, you now need to install WordPress on your account

Please note that it can take 48 hours for your domain name to become active. We can proceed but your domain name wont take you to the new site yet, so don’t panic

You need to login to your “Hosting control Panel” or CPanel as it is called. You have the address in your confirmation email that I mentioned before… you did keep it didn’t you…

In my example email it was: Your Control Panel: https://gator1121.hostgator.com:2081

follow the link to your CPanel locate and click the Fantastico icon near the bottom:

Click the WordPress link.

Choose New Installation:

The next screen needs a little bit of input from you:

Which Domain to use

Admin Access (User name)

Password

Admin nickname

Email address

Website name (you can change this later one)

Website Description (you can change this later one)

When you have entered these click on the ‘Install WordPress’ button

A confirmation page, click the Finish Installation. If you have an error message go back and check the previous page

Enter your email address and press ‘send email’ – this will send you a username and password reminder.

That’s it!

You have a working, albeit empty website. We wil discuss editing it in the next Making Your Own Website with WordPress Tutorial
